Blend

Blend
44 rue d’Argout
75002 Paris
I work right next to this restaurant, and after many attempts doomed to failure, I finally tested the new famous burger place.
The atmosphere is pleasant, graphic, black-and-white, although you can feel a little stuck on those small wooden stools. But let’s talk about the menu. Because when you say burger, it means meat. And even though the meat is prepared by the “bohemian” butcher Yves-Marie Le Bourdonnec, well my steak was not very rare, nor rare, but very well cooked, what a blasphemy! Despite this unforgivable mistake, the fries were tasty, the ketchup nice, and the home-cooked buns soft as one wishes. A lot of people had warned me about the small birdy portions, but I was quite satisfied with the quantities (and you know I have an hippopotamus appetite) ; I couldn’t eveb try the desserts which looked good.

Menu hamburger + fries + drink : 15 euros

Design Nori

I discovered this beautiful idea on Pinterest thanks to Christelle.
Tokyo-based advertising agency I&S BBDO has designed a very special set of symbolic patterned nori, the seaweed needed to roll a sushi, for Umino Seaweed, in order to help the  company recover from the sales after the 2011 Japanese tsunami.
The idea brings together traditional Japanese pattern graphics and latest laser cutting technology. The five designs represent longevity, luck, beauty and happiness.

Go, go, indigo!

Indigo…I love this colour! Did you know that it came from the latin word indicum, meaning India? The real blue indigo is a derivative from the woad, a plant used for dying clothes.

Melon salad

Here is an idea of a very simple and quick (for those who think that they need time to cook, you’re wrong guys!) recipe of a colorful summer salad.
The Ingredients (for 1 plate)
– 1 mozarella di buffala or burrata
– a dozen cherry tomatoes
– a few basil leaves
– a few green olives (I brought mine from Italy, they are amazing, they have a nutty taste!)
– 1/2 melon
– 2 tbps fig balsamic vinegar
– 3 tbsp olive oil
– salt and pepper
– 1/2 lemon
The Recipe
  1. Wash the tomatoes, the basil. Place them in a bol.
  2. With a round spoon, form little balls of melon.
  3. Add it to the tomatoes, with the olives.
  4. Mix with the olive oil, vinegar and lemon juice.
  5. Garnish your plate with the mozarella on top, add salt and pepper.

I guess I’m not the only one finishing by the food shop at IKEA’s, after having bought a hundred candles and plants that of course I didn’t need, swallowed 4 hot dogs, and brought back a huge box full of cereal and chocolate cookies. Well now, the men will be happy because the famous Swedish brand is launching a new beer! For the moment, it is only available in the United Kingdom for a little more than one pound. Cheers!
