Quatre-quarts pear cake

Probably one of the easiest cake recipe I know.
In French, it’s called the quatre-quarts (4/4). You can mesure the number of eggs you have, and you will then need the same amount of each ingredients (flour, sugar and butter).

The Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 120g sugar
  • 120g flour
  • 120g salted butter
  • 2 pears or apples
  • 1 big spoon of baking powder
  • optionnal chocolate chips

The Recipe

  1. Mix the sugar and the eggs.
  2. Melt the butter and then add it slowly to the previous ingredients.
  3. Add slowly the flour while mixing.
  4. Add the baking powder and some salt if the butter is not salted.
  5. Cut the apples or pears in cubes without the skin.
  6. Put the paste into a cake mould (buttered if needed), then add the fruits on top. You can now also add some chocolate chips.
  7. Put the cake in the oven for about an hour at 180∘Celsius. Check with a knife to see if the cake is crispy on the outside and soft and mellow on the inside.
