I recently saw the based on true stories movie “Julie & Julia”, by Nora Ephron, with Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. It has probably become one of my favourite movies… you wonder why. To make a long story short, in 1949, Julia Child is in Paris (like me), the wife of a diplomat (I’m the daughter of one), wondering how to spend her days (my case a few weeks ago). She tries hat making, bridge, and then cooking lessons at Cordon Bleu. In parallel, in 2002, Julie Powell, about to turn 30 and underemployed with an unpublished novel, decides to cook her way through “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”, Julia Child’s published cookbook, in a year, and to blog (oh!) about it. I couldn’t stop but taking screenshots of the fabulous images.
